The original post UFC 161 Mini Preview – Tickets on Sale this Friday can be found at Alpha Entertainment Online -

UFC is bringing an amazing card for UFC 161 to Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada on June 15, 2013 that should silence the complainers that argue the UFC cards have been spread thin on talent lately (this includes myself on the complainers list). UFC 161 will feature Canadian talent including Mitch Clarke, Sean Pierson, Yves Jabouin, Sam Stout, and Alexis Davis.  To everyone’s surprise, Canadians do not dominate the main card as they usually do on Canadian cards. Instead, the main card is packed with fan favourites including Pat Barry, Dan Henderson, Rashad Evans, Mauricio “Shogun” Rua, Antonio Rogerio Nogueira and Renan Barao the UFC bantamweight champion. Tickets go on sale April 12, 2013 for the MTS Centre so go get yours and don’t miss out on a card that will have fans roaring in their seats!

Barao

UFC Interim Bantamweight Champion Renan Barao

On the card, we see a fighter who has been petitioning with his fans to get back into the UFC on social media networks, Soa Palelei, who we have had the pleasure of talking to on our MMA podcast. Palelei is a great personality to have in the UFC, and hopefully with a win against Stipe Miocic, he can sign a multiple fight contract and continue to show his fans that he is back and better than ever. This will be a hard fight for him though, because Miocic had a fantastic winning streak until his loss to Stefan Struve last September. I would look forward to this fight being a high action and full force fight of fists in faces. Another fight I’m looking forward to is Ontario native Alexis Davis, who fights against Rosi Sexton, PhD. (She has a PhD and worked hard for it, so it should be stated as such!). The new women’s division in the UFC has some great fights on the horizon, including Meisha Tate vs. Cat Zingano next weekend, then Sara McMann vs. Sheila Gaff at UFC 159 on April 27. UFC 161 also sees Jake Shields come back from his suspension against Tyron Woodley. I like Shields, but Woodley has shown the fans that he is coming up the ladder hard and I think he will beat Shields, resulting in Shields receiving a pink slip. What I am most looking forward to are the fights between Pat Barry and Shawn Jordan, Dan Henderson and Rashad Evans, as well as Mauricio “Shogun” Rua and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira. I will most likely write a longer prediction article closer to the event on these fights, because they are going to be fantastic. I only hope and cross my fingers that no injuries occur from now until June, because as we have previously seen, awesome cards are tarnished by injuries. For now, UFC 161 is looking like a great night of fights for diehard and newer fans to enjoy MMA at its finest.
